Nothing is stored until you answer
The first time you arrive, the site asks whether measurement is welcome. Until you answer, and for ever if you say no, nothing is loaded from Google or Meta and no cookie from them is set.
Your answer is kept in this browser under petra.cookie-consent.v1. It holds a yes or a no and the date you gave it, nothing about you, and it is asked again after a year. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, that is taken as a no without asking.
If you say yes
- Google Analytics 4 sets _ga and _ga_… to count visits and see which pages are read. They last up to two years. Advertising features and ad personalisation are switched off, and the last part of your IP address is dropped.
- The Meta pixel sets _fbp, which lasts about three months, and lets me see whether people who arrive from an advert on Facebook or Instagram find what they came for.
- Both send data to companies in the United States, under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Changing your mind
Choose Cookie settings at the bottom of any page and answer again. Saying no stops anything new being loaded; to clear what is already there, delete this site’s cookies in your browser — every browser has that in its privacy settings.
The app is separate
The Petra app does not use Google Analytics or the Meta pixel. It asks separately about anonymous usage statistics, which are off until you say yes, and never include your name, your health details or your location. The Privacy Policy covers the app.
